The Comprehensive Extraction Process – 100% Orange Juice
The process for obtaining this concentrate is meticulously designed to leverage every essential part of the orange. As depicted in the image, three critical components of the orange are isolated and refined: the flavedo, the albedo, and the endocarp. Each of these parts contributes distinct qualities that make the final product robust in flavor, texture, and authenticity.
- Flavedo (Flavors & Essential Oils)
The flavedo, the vibrant outer peel of the orange, contains essential oils responsible for the fresh citrus aroma and tangy taste that define this concentrate. These oils not only add a fragrant citrus profile but also introduce a subtle, natural bitterness that balances the natural sweetness of the juice. The extraction of the flavedo oils is a key step to intensifying the concentrate’s flavor, making it more aromatic and refreshing.
- Albedo (Citrus Fiber)
Located just beneath the flavedo, the albedo is rich in natural fiber, adding body and depth to the concentrate. This layer provides the characteristic “cloudy” texture of the product, enhancing the visual appeal and mouthfeel by retaining natural fibers from the fruit. The presence of albedo ensures a more wholesome experience, aligning the concentrate closely with the qualities of freshly squeezed juice. - Endocarp (Juice & Pulp Cells)
The endocarp is the core of the orange, where juice and pulp cells are concentrated. This component carries the essential sugars and acids that form the base of the juice’s flavor profile.
